Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 15 April 2025
These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Beringin ("we", "us", "our") arranges and provides home companionship, check-in, and family coordination services to families ("you") in Kuala Lumpur and the surrounding Klang Valley area. Please read them carefully before using our website or engaging our services.
By submitting an enquiry through our website, by telephone, or by email, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these terms. If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected] or by calling +60 18-756 2324.
1. Our Services
Beringin provides the following general coordination and companionship services for older adults and their families:
- Regular Check-in & Family Updates — scheduled friendly phone or in-person check-ins with brief written summaries shared with nominated family contacts.
- Companionship Visit Coordination — arranging regular, friendly visits for conversation, shared activities, and gentle walks, with companion matching and written updates.
- Caregiver Guidance Workshops — small-group or one-to-one sessions for family members covering day-to-day routines, home comfort, and communication approaches.
All services are general companionship, household coordination, and information-sharing in nature. We do not provide regulated professional services of any kind, and nothing we do should be construed as such.
2. Service Arrangements
A service arrangement begins when both parties have agreed on the scope, schedule, and fee in writing (which may include email confirmation). We will do our best to accommodate your preferred schedule, but we cannot always commit to a specific individual companion for every visit — we will make reasonable efforts to provide a familiar and consistent presence where possible.
We will discuss any changes to the scope or schedule with you before implementing them. If circumstances on our side require a change, we will give you as much notice as reasonably possible.
3. Fees and Payment
Current service fees in Malaysian Ringgit are as listed on our website and communicated in writing at the time of your enquiry. Fees are due as agreed at the time of arrangement. We will provide a written record of what has been agreed.
If you wish to adjust the scope of your service arrangement — for example, increasing or reducing the frequency of visits — any change in fee will be discussed and agreed with you in advance.
4. Cancellation and Changes
If you need to cancel or reschedule a visit or session, please let us know as soon as possible and at least 48 hours in advance where you are able. We understand that circumstances with older adults can change at short notice, and we will always try to be accommodating.
Beringin reserves the right to suspend or end a service arrangement if it is not reasonably possible to continue — for example, due to changed circumstances, safety concerns, or behaviour that makes it difficult for our team to carry out the service. We would discuss any such situation with you before taking action wherever possible.
5. Your Responsibilities
When engaging our services, you agree to:
- Provide accurate and up-to-date information about your relative's circumstances, preferences, and address.
- Let us know promptly if there is any change in circumstances that is relevant to how we provide the service.
- Ensure that the older adult in your household is aware of and comfortable with the arrangement.
- Treat our team with respect during all interactions.
6. Limitation of Liability
Beringin is a general companionship and coordination service. We are not a regulated care provider and our team are not trained professionals in any regulated field. We provide friendly, organised support to complement — not replace — any professional arrangements families may have in place.
Our liability in connection with any service arrangement is limited to the fees paid for that arrangement. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from the use of our services.
7. Privacy
How we handle personal information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms by reference. By using our services, you agree to the handling of information as described there.
8. Website Use
You may use our website for personal, non-commercial purposes. You may not copy, reproduce, or redistribute any content from our website without our written permission. We make reasonable efforts to keep the information on our website accurate, but we do not warrant that it is free from errors or always up to date.
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any disputes will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The date at the top of this page indicates when they were last revised. Continued use of our website or services after any change constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
